it All About? The author’s claim: "This books offers realistic methods and sound advice from a 46 year old man who has dated young women for the past ten years. The principles are based entirely on understanding a young woman and her real motivation to date an older man." This is the most honest and straightforward author in the category of books. R. Don Steele is very up front about the results he expects from this book. You will not be out bagging 18 year-olds 48 hours after you finish reading. But you will have a plan. And if you are anything like me, a plan is important. But don’t be fooled, this can be a tough plan, especially if you have let your body get away from you a bit. If you want to date young women, you will probably have to make some changes. Changes to your body, your car (don’t skimp on the stereo), your attitude, and your clothes. Steele goes into each area in depth. And to be honest, it’s not that hard to change once you are convinced it is necessary. After you get yourself in shape, the author helps with the most important information in the book. Selection. In his estimation, only about 10 percent of women in the 18 to 24 year-old range will consider dating an older man. Steele helps you find and recognize these few gems. Here he is honest too. He advises to go for lower to upper middle class, working girls with smarts, and just less than playmate good looks. "A seven who will date you three times is a ten," according to Steele. By now you are probably wondering why even that 10 percent would be willing to go against everything that friends, society, school, church, and parents say and take a chance on dating an older man. The answer to this question is crucial in playing you cards right and meeting the needs, curiosities, and desires of that sweet young thing you have an eye on. The chapter on understanding her is probably the best in the book. The explanations sound reasonable to me, and he has a lot more experience in this area than I do. By far the hardest part of this plan is learning to change your attitude. This is a delicate game and it’s easy to screw up. He did, I did, and so will you. But the pay off is worth it. Plus, part of having the right attitude is have several irons in the fire, or "at least three pearls on the string," as Don refers to it. It keeps you from getting overexcited about any girl in particular and keeps you in charge. And that’s what a young girl wants. So where is all this dating of young women headed? Well that’s an important question, and the answer is probably….nowhere. You are not marriage material. But if you are honest and up front about your intentions then end will come naturally enough when the time comes. All you ever said you were after was a fun affair, as long as it was fun for you both. Trust me, eventually someone will come along who is the "take home to Mom’ type and you will be out the door. But is this a bad thing?? If you are looking to get married, then you probably need to read another book. In closing I’ll tell you a bit about my experience with this book and dating younger women. I met and dated for 8 months a beautiful 24 year-old former model. I met her through a telephone dating service, she had good stats (tall and slim) but could have had a face like a pug for all I knew. You see I got lucky and she didn’t say she was a former model up front. So I was very cool, and took my time. We exchanged messages, then talked on the phone. This went on for a good while before I asked her out, in fact I think it was finally her idea. And after went met I still played it very slow. She was not used to this treatment at all. She was used to being heavily pursued and I think she had fun chasing me a bit. Plus it made me much more attractive in her eyes. When I finally kissed her outside a little restaurant she practically threw herself at me and said, "I was wondering what I was going to have to do to get this man to kiss me!" The rest was like having the baby beg to give you her candy. But I knew she wanted children and needed to be married and eventually some one came along who could fill that bill and it was over. But I don’t regret a moment. Summary – Big thumbs up! This book gives you some straight, strong, and honest advice. Take the advice, go slow, follow the plan, and the few bucks you spend on this book will be well rewarded. Volume 2 also rocks! How to Date Young Women : For Men over 35 (Advanced Skills)
