Editor's Choice for 2004 - Match.com!Comparing dating sites can be tricky business. Do they have the same features, do they work the same way, how do they charge for services. It gets hard to compare apples to apples. So I have my own, unique methodology for picking the best of the best. Why Number one?For me there are only two real
criteria. First, is the site affordable. Just about all the sites are
within a few dollars of each other cost wise. So given that, the only
other criteria that means anything is - which site has the most
attractive women. And by "attractive" I mean very good
looking with a picture profile and in my target age range. Other than that, I really don't
care about who has the most fancy bells and whistles. I want lots of hot
women and some way to contact them. Simple enough. That's why free memberships
are often a bad thing for the site owners. Whenever I'm looking at a new
site, I browse through the pictures of local women and get a feel for
how many I would be interested in. If there are only a few, I move on. So based solely on this somewhat
unique methodology, I can easily say that Match.com is now the
leader by a large margin. They simply have more good looking
women than any other site I've tried. And I've tried a lot of sites. Launched on the Web on April
21, 1995, Match.com was the early mover in the online dating category
and now has more than 9 million members with profiles posted or who are
active users. Initial sign-up is easy and
free. You don't have to provide your life story and a credit card number
just to take a look around. Members can post multiple pictures and I really
like that as it can be hard to get an accurate read based on one picture
only. Fun new features on the site
include Wink, letting members playfully flirt with other members by sending
an animated smiley face; Match Video, where members can post a video to
their profile or send video emails, and Match Voice, allowing secure telephone
conversations and voicemail messages. Other features include Match.com
Messenger, which allows members to contact each other instantly and anonymously
and Match.com's keyword search allows, for example, an avid tennis player
to search for the word "tennis" in profiles on the site. As of May of 2004, Match.com members were:
Right now, Match.com really
is the 800 pound gorilla of the online dating world. Not only do they
lead the pack with access through www.Match.com, but they also serve as
the online dating service for the following partner sites: AOL in the United Kingdom and
the United States; CompuServe; Netscape; Digital City; BellSouth; InfoSpace;
MSN across Europe, Asia and the United States; Citysearch; Evite; BET
Interactive; New York Times; AT&T Worldnet; Earthlink; Oxygen; BlackAmericaWeb.com;
LookSmart.com; BlackVoices.com; BlindDatetv.com; Excite/iWon; iFrance;
iSpain; Alta Vista in Australia; Friends Reunited in the UK; and Bild.T-Online
in Germany You've heard it before, dating
really is a numbers game, and you never can tell who is going to be attracted
to you and who is not. Right now Match.com gives you the best chance of
finding mutual attraction. And don't forget my very scientific site ranking
criteria. For now, Match.com not only has more women, but more hot women
to choose from. Runner UpAnother good choice with attractive
women is MatchMaker,com. It is set up a bit differently with sites based
on most major cities. Also worth a look! |
